After a somewhat lack luster visit to the shore we decided to move inland to see what we could see. Jan, who was driving, exclaimed, "Look! Look!"
"What?" I wasn't sure what she was getting so excited about. But there in the field was a farm tractor with manure being spread on the frozen wasteland of a field. Then it dawned on me.
This fresh manure would attract the bald eagles, or "baldies" as we soon started to call them. My friend Jan, has a tally that she keeps a tally in a tattered note pad in the consol of her vehicle. Today's tally, 65.

I try to imagine the majestic rapture sitting creek side next to a salmon river rather than a 13 foot high manure pile. But, we were happy to see them swooping and diving over the pile.

It's hard to explain how busy and frantic the wild eagles seemed to be. We would watch and then Jan would say, "incoming from the right" and there would be 2 or sometimes more eagles swooping in from the nearby trees.
